It's finally been a year since I've drawn him. It was his birthday last April 14 too. Might as well be his birthday present. y 7 y My dear Haru, I'm so happy I can finally draw you without being so frustrated how others could draw you better and I couldn't bring justice to you, my own OC. I'm happy I can finally do it now.

This guy is an OC that really knows how to stay close to my heart. ; v ;

Personality:

Haru is a warm and welcoming type of person, treasuring those that he cares about the most so much, that he regrets every single mistake he's ever done in their lives. As a person and a friend, he's been naturally kind and caring, wanting to help them with their needs, or be a shoulder to cry on when they're in pain. The people in his town have watched him grow, and has seen his ability to change people for the better and how much he cares for others, because he's always thought that people deserve better. He's been known to be stubborn, ending up having regrets when he makes a mistake, but also chooses to learn from them. Always humble, no matter how many awards he's won growing up, he'll just say he just wants to be the best for his dad, to make him happy. When it comes to his love life, he comes off a bit more spoiling, buying her gifts and giving her with so much love.

History:

Haruto was born in Aragusuku-Jima, where the oceans blessed him with his blue hair and blue eyes. His mother and father were busy with their work, his father being a former national surfer to a school director and his mother being a scientist for marine life, his grandfather was the one that watched over him and mostly brought him up in his childhood days. Every night before he went to bed, his grandfather would tell him amazing stories about the mermaids and mermen that lived nearby the school. Of course, it was just a fairytale to most people that heard it, but to Haru they were real. He believed they were real. He even told his classmates when he was young about them, and they just mocked him about it. He lost most friends because of it, but he kept to what his grandpa said about them existing.

At the age of eight (8), he finally started to learn how to surf. His father being a well known surfer in Japan wanted to pass on what he's learned from being in different places in the world. Having a hobby like this really made him happy, while his mom when she had the time to send with him, taught him how to scuba dive. Haru didn't get to always spend time with his mom and dad, but he enjoyed every single moment of it. When they weren't there for him, he trained on his own, and actually joined junior league contests and won, being the youngest surfer in most competitions. He grew a strong bond with the ocean and vowed never to leave it. By the age of ten (10), he started becoming friends with a boy that started visiting the town every Summer, Tsuji Naruya. They became best friends. Naru always following Haru around on his adventures.

His grandfather became ill not so long after. He lived a long few good years, but when Haruto was sixteen (16), he finally passed away. Haru was devastated. He never felt his heart break so much. The man that was so patient with the ever so energetic Haru, the one that told him stories about folklore and always taught him to treasure every single moment you live and live it the best, gone. He became depressed for a long period of time, losing a father figure from his life.

One day that year though, dark clouds were surfacing in the sky, and Haruto was sitting on his surfboard, in the middle of the ocean, alone. Being deep in thought of all things he could've told his grandfather, never really thanking him for all he's done for him, his mind came back to when he realized the waves were getting too violent, and the sky was completely dark due to it being evening. Thunder crashed his ears and lightning frightened him. He was about to start paddling back, but it was too late. He was being engulfed by the huge waves, and he was swept away by the ocean.

He trusted the ocean, more than any person he's met. He didn't think he'd die in the place where he felt like his life started. His eyes were losing sight, and as it blurred, he saw a bright image. He thought at first it was an angel, but he saw a tail. A vivid red tail, with a human half. His eyes just closed with his last thought before fainting, " A mermaid..? ". He woke back up on shore, his surfboard snapped in two. He wasn't dreaming, he really did see it. At least he believed he did. A mermaid. They exist, they really did. As he sat up, he noticed he was holding onto a pristine light pink pearl. He smiles and held it tight. The ocean saved him. He stopped being depressed from that moment, and he kept the pearl as a good luck charm. He'd been winning more competitions, and was known internationally as a surfer already.

He was going to his own grandfather's school as his high school, and he was a popular icon there. He was always humble and told them that mermaids blessed me with a gift that I should use well. Even though some think of it as a joke, he believed in himself when he said that. He asked his dad if he could be the Student Council President and choose whom he wanted in the Council, to help continue to take care of the school his grandfather built to keep the mermaids safe from harm.

Special Relationships:

MeiLing: His girlfriend, and for him, the love of his life. He wants to spend his whole life with her. Though they met and came off at a bumpy start, he started to develop feelings for her since then, and always wanted to protect and cherish her. Knowing her background, he wanted to be one of the first to truly love her and pay attention to her.

Amy: Since Haru was an only child, he feels a connection to Amy as if they were real siblings. He loves to give her advice and spend time with her. He'd never ask for a better imouto than her.

Shiori: Best friend since first year, they've been an odd pair of buddies. He finds her as a really funny person until now and finds it interesting how she has so many odd jobs in most places.

Naruya: Best friend since childhood, best friends forever. Naru has been with him through thick and thin, and is like the only person that reminds him to do most of his work as the officer. Even though Naru is more oriented to reminding him about his work, he's still the same Naru he met so many years ago. The friend that he knows will always stay by his side no matter what.


Additional Info:

He still wears the pearl as a bracelet for good luck.
He has a collection of surfboards.
When he hears thunder he tends to cover his ears and hide somewhere.
He's athletic, but has no skill for soccer, archery, and kendo.
